Hi all
several members have been asking, what are you now building Dave and I answer a G-ERUP, what's that they say, well its a very old plan I got from the Radio Modeller a few years ago (late 1970's).
The main reason for building this model is, my best friend (who now I hope, has got his own pair of wings) built one and it flew fantastic.
so here are a few images of the build.

Hi all
I have now been very busy and here are the latest images etc.
You can see from the last image what the plane will look like, if you are not familiar with it ( if you are a little old, but young like me, you will remember it, in the radio Modeller).
I have however, made a few changes to the plan and changed how the engine is fitted, the front I will mould rather than buid up from balsa wood. I have also fitted individual aireron servo's rarther than a complicated wire linkage system.
If you have a good look at the front of the outer wings you will note that there is a miss match at the joint between the inner and outer, this is because there are slats fitted to the front of the outer to help in its S.T.O.L. characteristic's.

Hi all
Well with the weather, gardening, holidays and doing a bit of flying etc. its been some time since I have done any work on the build of the G-ERUP. but now
I have almost finished the plane, just the front cowl to finish and fit.
Note the two moulds at the bottom of the picture are the ones which I have had to make for the cowl and canopy.
this pic. shows the canopy fitted with the pilot I purchased at the Nationals for a £1
This pic. shows all the fuz servo's receiver etc.
I took this pic to show the front slats which are all part of the STOL characterisics.

This pic shows the almost fully assembled plane and having fitted all the radio equipment, it was time to check all the movements and the C of G, before fitting the cowl in case I needed to add a little weight to the front.

I was lucky enough to fly this (Dad's) model a few times over this last weekend in both gentle and windy conditions. It is without a doubt the most sublime model I have ever flown..........quite simply it is superb. It is rock steady with the flaps deployed and handles beautifully. I cannot recommend this model highly enough but you will need to build it from plans. The end result is well worth the effort however.
