Electric Indoor Masters - 2014

Post by Colin » Sun Feb 02, 2014 9:09 pm

Saturday saw a contingent of us at the Metrodome in Barnsley for the 2014 Electric Indoor Masters.

Once again we saw some incredible flying which make our Monday nights seem very tame. A few pics and videos are shown below

The models are all about weight and a number of them were basic Depron skeletons that had been milled or cut to the bare essentials and then covered with 0.5mm mylar. Receivers and ESCs had their casings removed and wires were cut exactly to length and soldered together or to the PC boards - no plug connections here.

Motors too often featured carbon fibre props to keep an accurate airfoil during all stages of the flight, and a number of models featured contra rotating props thus reducing torque effects.

Finally it was a successful day for two of the club members - Brian won a LiPo in the raffle, and I won a year's subscription to 'Quiet & Electric Flight International'.

Anyway - here's some pics and videos ...

This is a good example of the ultra lightweight designs seen...

As organiser, and designer of most of the models seen, Andy Whitehead is so accomplished, he can fly just using his bum cheeks ...

Want to see a plane fly backwards? Some models had reverse pitch!

Rob/Darren - this is what we expect the next time you bring your 450's to the indoor ...

Here is another pulled off YouTube from the Sunday session ...
