Avoid Running out of Filament

You've designed that beautiful big 3D part, sliced it expertly, set the printer going, and watched the first few layers. Great now all you have to do is wait for 48Hrs! Then two days later, with the print head nearly winding itself off the top of the printer, and the screen telling you that your mas...

L188 Electra - progress update

It's been a while since I've updated the progress on the Lockheed Electra L188. I've not been idle during lockdown and the design and build is really coming on. About 90% of the design is complete. I am on Blender version 2.83 now and it is an excellent tool for scale design and export for the 3D pr...

David, That looks fantastic. Can't wait to see it fly. The cockpit detail is great.

Re: L188 Electra

I'm back on the forum now (thanks Colin). Thought I'd post a progress update. The design of the parts is harder than the actual 3D printing. For the cockpit I did about 60 file saves, until I was happy with the design. Actually have quite a few parts ready to go: Cockpit, nosecone, front landing gea...

Re: L188 Electra

Had a bit of a setback. My main PC threw a wobbly and wiped out a memory stick, with all my 3D files, in the process. But these things are always better when you redo them. Found some better reference pictures for the actual example I am building. N1968R.jpg I have 3D printed the Rudder. It came out...

L188 Electra

Now I have my Anet A8 3D printer, I thought I needed a new project. I've been on a couple of turbo prop airplanes and always liked the idea of a multi engine airliner model. IC engines can be a problem, but modern electric motors are powerful and cheap. So I decided to do an L188 Electra, the commer...

L188 Electra

This is the best 3 view I could find for the Electra. Some are for the P3 Orion which is a another type.

I use these images in Blender. but there isn't much detail and when these pictures are scaled up the lines are too wide to be very accurate.

Avios Bush Mule from Hobbyking

BushMule02A.jpg This arrived today. Took about an hour to put together. No glue required, it all just screws together. There are no instructions but they are not really needed. All the parts fitted together without any issues, the quality is superb. The wheels are enormous, perfect for a grass fiel...

Twin Engine Differential Thrust

Figured this out for my Bush Mule. Didn't want it on the Rudder, like some of the YouTube demos. I wanted the differential controlled by the VRA knob on my TNY i10. In the end it was very easy to do. The i10 is easy to program. I just needed two of the linear Mixes. My Throttles are on Channel 3 as ...
